Dragons at Crumbling Castle by Terry Pratchett is filled with marvelous tales about things from tiny people living on a carpet to a tap-dancing championship to people living on a piece of dust floating through the air. Out of these delightful stories, my favorite is a story about hunting a “snorry”. Ninety-one adventurers set sail to hunt it down. None of them knew what the snorry looked like, but they all had theories. Some of them said that it is covered in blue fur; others say it sneezes a lot. Wanting to catch the Snorry they set sail to the Upper Amazon. They all unknowingly caught a Snorry and it turned out to be a bad cold.
This novel is filled with engrossing stories about tons of different things. This book is perfect for a nighttime read-aloud. I loved these fables because they were shorter and I was able to stop after one chapter and not have to keep wondering about the next. You still want to keep reading, and reading, about the incredible adventures of a turtle named Hercules, or dragons invading a castle.
