Ratburger by David Walliams

Ratburger is another hilarious book by David Walliams. It is about a girl, Zoe, who lives with her dad and her stepmom. Zoe’s mom died when she was little, and her dad recently lost his job at an ice cream factory. Zoe’s stepmom, Sheila, is the worst person you can imagine. Sheila is a hypocrite and all she does is stay at home and yell at Zoe and her dad. She even blames Zoe’s hamster, Gingernut, for nibbling holes in the couch when they are obviously cigarette burns that she makes herself. Sheila crosses the line when she kills Zoe’s hamster. Zoe cries for days until Zoe eventually finds some more comfort.

Zoe always wanted to train Gingernut for an animal circus, so she was overjoyed when she realized there was a rat in her room. Zoe decided that she had to train the rat. She knows that if she leaves the rat at home, her stepmother will surely kill it and Zoe brings the rat to school and names it after a toilet company, Armitage. However, her stepmother is very suspicious about what is happening in Zoe’s room and hires a pest control man named Burt to look for a rat. Burt smells a rat in Zoe’s room and takes Armitage back to his lair, an old, abandoned, warehouse where he pulverizes rats and turns them into burgers. Zoe tells her dad and they both go to rescue Armitage, but end up in grave danger, will Armitage be rescued, and more importantly; will they survive?
